What’s Available in Amal
Åmål (pronounced Or – More – L), is situated in Vastra Gotaland County in Sweden. The small, picturesque town has just under 10,000 local residents and nestles on the shores of Lake Vanern, the third largest lake in Europe. A compact and well-constructed harbour sits at the edge of the township and its narrow entrance leads out into the vast, open lake. The township has everything anglers require to have a safe and enjoyable time, on and off the water, during the 2018 world championship.

The ATM works with international cards. It is easy to use. You can choose different languages for operation.
Located across the bridge and on the opposite side of Kungsgatan St (Main Street) from the Event Hotel (Amals Stadshotell). It is in the next block 2 minutes walk away and is open 24 hours a day.
SIM CARDS
Some people will have their phone plans from home organised for international use with their usual phone number. Often this can be very expensive if not organised or used effectively. Another way is to get a new Sim Card for use while you are in Sweden. They are available in the same street as the Event Hotel, just a couple of minutes to the right out of the hotel main entrance. Turn right and head over the bridge, once over the bridge cross the road and continue to the next block where you will see the AUDIO VIDEO STORE.
AUDIO VIDEO STORE
It’s a quick and simple process with English speaking sales staff to advise and assist you. You will have a new phone number for the time you are in Sweden. Data transfer is of very high quality.
Sim Cards are 100kr (12.15 USD or 15.75 AUD) with 1Gb data included.
You will then need to buy more data with 100kr, 200kr or 300kr options/
(Remember to keep your current sim card, and place it back into your phone once you leave Sweden)

SUPERMARKETS
There are three supermarkets in Amal which are all close to the Event Hotel. Ingang is conveniently located to the left of the hotel on the same side of the road within 50m of the hotel’s main entrance. Two larger stores are a little further away (but less than 5 minutes-walk) and are open longer hours. To reach ICA Supermarket and Coop Konsum walk across the bridge, take the first street on the left (at Intersport Amal) in Mellanbrogatan St. The supermarkets are in the next block and are located opposite each other.
